Why do people need Paw Finder?
I've had many pets over the years; dogs, cats, fish, parrots, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, a miniature horse, chickens, ducks, cows and reptiles. Some have been bought and some have been rescued, some have been healthy and some haven't.
I know the heartbreak that bringing home a poorly pet can lead to and it is not something that I would ever want someone to go through and that is one of the main reasons that Paw Finder became.
Just some of the pets that I have had over the years:
There are so many people out there who are ready and willing to exploit people who are looking for a puppy or a kitten. It is so easy to let your heart rule over your head and dismiss the red flags that might be there when you are looking at a tiny animal that you just want to take home and look after. Even before you meet your potential new pet scammers will manipulate you in ways that you have probably never thought of, just to get your money. They don't care that they will break your heart and they don't care that your children might cry themselves to sleep, all they want is your money and the puppy that they are showing you photos of may not even belong to the person you are talking to.
Most people that know me know that I love animals and that I have pets of my own. I am regularly contacted by friends and acquaintances who are thinking of getting a pet and want some help and advice of how to go about it. Some have just wanted a quick chat about it with some advice, perhaps what breed or where to look for the pet, but others I have searched for a puppy or kitten, found what they wanted and done all that I could to ensure that the potential pet comes from a good breeder before passing the details on to my friend.
So I figured that if there were that many people that I know looking for help with finding a new pet then surely there are many other people out there who might not have someone they can ask.
As I am writing this we are in the midst of Covid-19 and the crazy world that we now live in. One of the crazy parts has been the pet industry. Demand for puppies and kittens has skyrocketed, breeders place an advert and are then inundated with people desperate to give the pet a home. As demand has risen so has the price of the puppies and kittens, the cost has for some breeds tripled or even more yet people are still fighting to spend that money. And all of that makes scammers even more interested in making money from desperate families and there are many sad stories of people who have lost many thousands of pounds that they paid for an animal that didn't exist. So now more than ever I think that people need someone to help guide them through the process, because as stressful and overwhelming it can be it will all be worth it when you get your pawfect pet home.
